Presentation Title: “The Secrets Of The ARRL Lab”
Talk Summary:
Ed Hare – W1RFI from ARRL Headquarters will be giving us, all the scoop of what goes on at the ARRL Lab. Some of this is published, but, most of it is not. This will be a very interesting and enlighten talk on what really happens ‘behind the scene’ at the ARRL Lab. A must attend presentation.
Speaker Bio:
Ed Hare – W1RFI was first licensed in 1963. After 16 years in the electronics industry, Ed came to ARRL HQ in 1986.
Ed started as ARRL’s “Product Review” test engineer, moved on to becoming ARRL’s “RFI guru” (notice his call!) and he now holds the position of ‘Laboratory Supervisor’.
Over the years Ed has written quite a number of RFI articles, ranging from articles for QST and the “ARRL Handbook” to articles that have appeared in professional trade journals. He is also one of the editors and authors of the ARRL “RFI Book” and the author of the ARRL’s book on RF exposure, “RF Exposure and You.”
Ed is very active in several RFI programs at ARRL, holding membership on the Society of Automotive Engineers EMC Committee, the IEEE C.63 Committee and IEEE Standards Coordinating Committee 28, representing ARRL and the interests of Amateur Radio in developing standards for the immunity of consumer equipment and motor vehicles and standards for RF exposure.

Talk Summary:
Ed will discuss what low-power communications can really do. Over the years he has experimented with lower and lower power levels to accomplish adequate communications. This talk discribes Ed’s QRP escapades into ever decreasing power levels.

Talk Summary:
“A,B,C’s”: – Art & Artistry; Beauty & Benefits; Challenge & Camaraderie; are just a few examples of QRP operating. Rex will offer up a Mountain Of Example for the ABCs of QRP operating And Why Life Is Too Beautiful For QRO.
Speaker Bio:
Rex Harper, W1REX, is the owner and operator of QRP ME, a Maine based kit company. He started his career in electronics as a young boy learning from his dad, everything from radios to TVs and more. He was a field service engineer for Texas Instruments and later went out on his own opening a computer store. Sales and service was his focus. A QRP-ARCI “Hall of Fame” recipient, Rex is well known around the world for his tuna-tin canned kits.
