Going to Hell, 3 February 2007
This announcement, in various forms, has appeared on various reflectors throughout ham cyberspace. Please feel free to distribute it to other QRP lists to which you subscribe.
This it to announce that, on February 3, 2007, several hams are "going to Hell" (Hell, Michigan, that is) to operate during the AzScQRPions "F)reeze Y)our B)... O)ff (FYBO) contest. So far, the contingent will include Cortland, KA5S, and Hank, N8XX, and a non-confirmed 3rd member. A special event call of N8H has been reserved. We'll be operating on all the "QRP" frequencies, but the best chance for folks in New England probably will be 7.040 or 14.060 MHz, or 7.285 or 14.285 MHz (SSB). Presuming that Hellschriber works, we'll be on 14.068-14.072 MHz and possibly 21.068-21.072 MHz with that mode. We will be operating between 1400z and 2359z.
We're requesting participation from Hell, Stjørdal, Norway, Hell, Grand Bahamas, as well as Paradise, Michigan. So far we haven't had confirmation that any of these locations will be activated. Are there hams on Paradise Island in the Bahamas? How about Paradise, California? Paradise, Newfoundland, Canada? (I've run out of energy to find other places called Paradise - the end seems listless. :)
We hope hams in New England will try to contact us - AND, of course, participate in the FYBO, indoors or otherwise.
A special pictorial "QSL from Hell" will be sent to those who send us a #10 or larger SASE to the QTH listed for N8XX on qrz.com
Details on the contest, are at http://www.azscqrpions.org/FYBO2007_01072007.htm

NEARfest May 2007
It was like coming home again. It was a warm, fuzzy blanket wrapped around you. It was Deerfield as we remembered years ago. IT WAS WONDERFUL. I sold club coffee mugs and now I am down to only one box. The people selling their gear were happy and smiling and made a lot of money. The weather was truly in our favor and was just GREAT. I slept over Friday night in my car and froze me fanny off! BUT...I'd do it again. A lot of building materials, a little QRP for sale, and of course the hot sausage sandwich (for $7) were all there. I had the green pepper burger and onion rings for $7 and enjoyed it for the next two days!!! Next fall -- more of the same and I am ready! I met super friends there: Bruce N1RX and his wonderful XYL Linda, Jim W1FMR, Carl WA1ZCQ, Dave NT1U, Mike K1WVO and more. We really have a friendly club and it's just getting better all the time. Thanks guys....
